The online ticket booking for the just-concluded IFFI did click with an average 400 tickets being booked every day.
National Informatic Centre (NIC) record indicates that 3925 tickets were booked online during the ten day long festival and around 605 tickets were cancelled online by the delegates and media, who were given special pin number to book the tickets.
In a major milestone, the online ticket booking, launched for IFFI 2010, was introduced for the first time in any of the international film festival. NIC had developed the software for Entertainment Society of Goa.
According to the available data, November 24 saw maximum 578 people booking the ticket online and also that was the day when maximum people cancelled their ticket online. In all 98 people cancelled their ticket online on November 24.
The newly introduced system got lukewarm response on November 21, when the software was commissioned for the delegates and media. Only 35 tickets were booked online that day.
NIC had introduced this software on that day, as the ticket could be booked three days prior to the film.
The online ticket booking saw steady increase in the latter days. On November 22 (284), November 23 (815), November 24 (578), November 25 (511), November 26 (458), November 27 (483), November 28 (327), November 29 (113), November 30 (115), December 01 (118) and December 02 (105) tickets were booked online.
NIC’s state informatics officer J J R Anand said that the software functioned without any technical glitches through the festival.
“The provisions were also made at the entrance of the auditoriums to scan the tickets which were bar coded,” he said.
NIC officials said this was for the first time that the tickets were booked online and printout were taken by delegates and media sitting in their hotels or homes or media centre.
“It saved lot of time and queues in front of the ticket counters were reduced considerably,” Anand added.
