PANJIM: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat declared that the fate of Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco can only be decided by the Congress High Command. Opposition leader Kamat said, since the Central Leadership had announced his name for the Curtorim seat, only the Central Committee headed by Chairperson Sonia Gandhi can decide on this issue.
Immediately after Reginaldo resigned from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), he had an offer from Congress’s newly-joined Michael Lobo to rejoin the Congress in a bid to get 22 seats in the Assembly elections.

Reginaldo was declared as the Curtorim candidate by the Congress High Command on December 16, however in an unexpected move he resigned from the party on December 20 and joined the TMC. Then in a sudden U-turn on January 16, Reginaldo resigned from the TMC, claiming backlash from his voters.
