MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party will hold a public meeting at the Lohia Maidan on the day of Opinion Poll anniversary. The Goa Forward has said that this would be an annual feature and would be considered to be Identity Day for Goa and Goans hereon.
The Goa Forward has urged all the self respecting Goans to join in and take pride in the identity day which will begin at 4.30 pm. Goa Forward has said that it will take it ahead as a movement in order to keep the legacy of the self respecting Goans. “We plan to take resolutions at the meeting for the installation of the statue of Dr Jack Sequeira at the Goa Assembly complex. We will also resolve to take all the aspects of Goenkarponn and its identity in the everyday life of people of Goa,” Goa Forward leader and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai.
“Identity as a means of empowerment has to be brought into the State policy of Goa which is our thrust,” Vijai said.
Quoting Vasant Dada Patil of Maharashtra, Vijai said that he had once said that Mumbai is in Maharashtra but Maharashtra is not in Mumbai, which, Vijai said created Shiv Sena there. “The state of East Indians in Mumbai shouldn’t crop in Goa and hence our thrust will be to devise a policy to put Goans Forward,” Vijai said.
Goa Forward spokesperson Trajano D’mello said, “In the Panjim by-election, Congress candidate promised to help the people even if was defeated. Since the election, he is not even seen in Panjim, but he is taking issue of coconut.”
