PORVORIM: The Opposition took on the Pramod Sawant-led government over various contentious issues as the House discussed the Budget 2022-24. From the government’s empty assurances and failure to restart mining to diversion of National Games from Goa to Gujarat, lack of basic amenities, inflation, floods, unemployment, pollution, etc; the Opposition benches alleged that government has been unsuccessful to resolve many problems of the State.
“Why didn’t we get the opportunity to host the National Games. Is it the infrastructure problem or lack of funds? The Budget 2022-23 looks like an exercise for mopping revenue for routine expenses,” Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao said. He pointed out to closure of mining since 2012 alleging that government ‘is beating the same old drum’ by covering up its failure to restart mining.
Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo claimed that the people are crying for basic needs as she questioned government ‘s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme.
