Opposition Unity Key to Defeating BJP, Says Amit Palekar After AAP’s Poor ZP Poll Performance

Following the Aam Aadmi Party’s disappointing performance in the Zilla Panchayat elections, AAP Goa president Amit Palekar on Tuesday said that the only effective way to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is for opposition parties to come together.

Reacting to the election outcome, Palekar candidly acknowledged that fear of vote division may have worked against AAP, leading many voters to opt for other candidates instead of the party. He admitted that sections of the electorate possibly refrained from voting for AAP due to concerns that opposition votes would split, indirectly benefiting the BJP.

Palekar stressed that the results underline the need for greater opposition unity in future elections to challenge the BJP’s electoral strength. He added that the message from voters is clear and that opposition parties must learn from the outcome and work collectively to present a credible alternative.

The AAP leader’s remarks come amid growing political discussions in Goa over post-election realignments and the future strategy of opposition parties ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
