Opposition’s job is to criticise, says CM

PANJIM: In the eye of a storm for several weeks now over the Mhadei issue, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said he is unperturbed by the Opposition’s tirade as their job is to criticise.

“Opposition’s job is to criticise and that is what they are doing. I am not worried about that. My job is to make Goa’s case strong in the Supreme Court and that is what we are working on,” Sawant said, interacting with the media at the BJP headquarters in Panjim.

He said the State will again approach the Surpreme Court. “We will bring to notice of Supreme Court the works carried out on Kalsa Bhandura dam in violation of Supreme Court order,” he stated.

Besides this, he said, the State will also approach departments like Wildlife etc. “We will approach all departments urging them not to grant Karnataka permission for construction activity,” he said.

Hearing Goa’s miscellaneous application pleading for a stay on construction activity till the final award is given by the MWDT, the Supreme Court clarified that the interim order dated April 17, 2014 continues to be in operation. The State’s application will come up for hearing in the Supreme Court in July.
