SANGUEM: Residents of Orcotto in Sanguem have objected to the installation of mobile tower in the thickly populated locality and submitted a memorandum to Sanguem Municipal Council (SMC) Cahirperson, Romualdo Fernandes.
In their memorandum, the locals have vehemently opposed the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the plot owner and the mobile phones operating company for the installation of the tower on account of alleged health hazards caused to human life due to the operation of mobile towers in residential locality.
The memorandum states “The site chosen by the company to install the tower is barely within a radius of 50 metres from the government school and a government run Balwadi centre. Moreover the place is also thickly populated and the installation of tower in the locality would have serious consequences on the lives of the people”.
The residents claim that the company was making every back door attempt to get the NOC for the installation of the tower in the garb of soil testing. However when the residents doubted of the move by the land owner to install a mobile tower, the villagers visited the SMC where it was revealed of the company and the land owner having filed separate applications for electricity connection and mobile tower installation.
