PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday said the government will issue an ordinance to legalise unauthorised structures before the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, which begins in July.
“The matter involves several departments, including Law Department, which has given its vetting. Now the final nitty gritty is being looked into. After all the things are in place we will issue an ordinance probably before the July session of the Assembly,” Parsekar said.
A law regularising nearly 40,000 illegally constructed houses in the State was one of the poll promises made by the BJP ahead of the 2012 polls.
According to Parsekar, the cut-off period for illegal structures to qualify for the regularisation will be February 2014. “We are fulfilling our poll promise with this ordinance.”
