Our Lady of Miracles feast celebrated at Sanguem

SANGUEM:  Popularly known as “Purumentachem Fest”, the feast of Our Lady of Miracles was celebrated, at Sanguem, on Saturday.

With lockdown in force due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Feast Mass was celebrated at 6 am by Parish Priest Fr Tadeo D’Silva, who was the main celebrant along with Fr Nelson Lobo, Fr Carlson and Fr George as concelebrants.

In his homily, Fr Lobo advised people to follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ and help the poor and the needy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Everything is useless if you don’t have charity and compose in life. As Christians we cannot forget them, but help them at this time of need,” said Fr Lobo urging people to be good Samaritans at all times.

For the first time, the parishioners had to watch the Feast Mass in their homes via YouTube or GCTV and Facebook.

Fr Tadeo and the Church Committee made elaborate arrangements for live streaming of the feast mass on YouTube, Facebook and also telecast the mass live on GCTV. The parishioners hailed the efforts of the parish priest. The three-day novena service was also telecast live on YouTube and GCTV.

The power shutdown for the day also added to the woes of the parishioners as the Electricity Department cut off the power sharp at 7 am.

The COVID-19 pandemic deprived Sanguem town of its festive look in the absence of the annual fair.
