Until the main accused who brutally assaulted Adv Gajanan Sawant is not arrested our protest will not stop no matter which VVIP comes to Goa, say the lawyers protesting for justice. On Saturday, several lawyers across the state held a protest at the Crime branch and Azad maidan.
In a late Friday night development, the Porvorim police filed an FIR against four policemen attached to the Porvorim police station and two others on charges of attempting to murder Adv Gajanan Sawant on Thursday. Members from the legal fraternity are demanding a proper and fair inquiry into this case.
On Saturday, the lawyers held a protest at Azad maidan and at the crime branch demanding the arrested of the main accused and stated that their silent protest will continue. They also claimed that the complaint was filed at 3.30 pm on Thursday and even showed the video clipping to the Porvorim Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar, showing the police assaulting Adv Sawant and demanded the registration of the FIR immediately.
