PANJIM: Over 200 civil society members, social activists, artistes, women and grassroots leaders joined the Goa Trinamool Congress at an event in Benaulim on Sunday. The programme was presided over by leader of TMC in Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien and Goa TMC leader N Shivdas.
One of the highlights of the evening was the induction of Tony Dias, a renowned producer & director of Konkani cinema. Dias was one of the key philanthropists who extended financial aid, free ambulance service and many other medical facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While addressing the gathering, Dias said that he joined the Goa Trinamool Congress because he had complete conviction in the party’s vision for Goa. He added that Mamata Banerjee’s modesty, honesty and determination for defeating the BJP was his driving force.
O’Brien speaking on the occasion said, “I have taken a house here in Goa. I am staying here till 2024 until we say goodbye to Modi, goodbye to Shah and goodbye to the Congress”.
“Goa Trinamool Congress welcomes all the new members and promises to extend full co operation in their vision to usher in a new dawn for Goa”, he added.
