Paddy crop at Corjuem damaged in flooding

MAPUSA: Several acres of paddy crop were damaged in Corjuem due flooding resulting from heavy rains in the last few days. According to the farmers, the paddy crop was ready for harvesting. Some farmers said that the paddy fields were flooded after a sluice gate door broke.
Farmer Satyavan Kerkar lamented that their efforts and hard work have been washed away in floods.
“The government is after us to cultivate the fields. After putting in much toil and sweat, our crop has now got damaged. We demand the government to come out with a solution within the next two to three days,” Kerkar said.
Another angry farmer lamented that the government is giving all false promises and assurances to the farmers.
