PONDA: Accusing the Kirlapal Dabal Panchayat members of mismanagement and not taking panchas into confidence, Panch Ramakant Gaonkar in protest sat among the villagers during the gram sabha on Sunday.
Gaonkar, who was also the sarpanch in the nine-member Kirlapal Dabal Panchayat in Dharbandora taluka, was ousted following a no-confidence motion in February.
Gaonkar claimed that during his tenure as sarpanch, he had taken every pancha into confidence and there was clean administration. In protest, Gaonkar sat among villagers since the last gram sabha.
“Now the situation is different. Present Sarpanch Deepak Pawaskar is not taking other panchas into confidence. The other panchas may have preferred to keep quiet, but I cannot. There is mismanagement and that is the reason I prefer to sit among villagers, which also gives me an opportunity to freely raise issues concerning the villagers,” said Gaonkar.
However, Sarpanch Deepak Pawaskar refuted the claims made by Gaonkar.
The gram sabha, which was held in temple hall at Kalsai-Dabal, passed a resolution to construct revenue-generating project which will also house a Panchayat Ghar from Rs 1 crore announced by the State government.
“Mining firms in our panchayat jurisdiction had assured to fund the Panchayat Ghar project, but it has now become uncertain due to suspension of mining business. However as decided by the villagers, we will utilize Rs 1 crore announced by the State government to build the project that will also house shops,” said Sarpanch Pawaskar.
