MARGAO: Refuting all allegations against him levelled by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, Salcete Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar said the denial of OBC certificate to Saluzinha Crasto was on genuine ground and there was no case of minority discrimination.
Panchwadkar went on to add how more than 60 percent of the certificates issued by his office has been for the minority community and that Crasto was the first case where an application was denied. He also pointed out how in the past during the 2010 municipal elections, a caste certificate had been granted for Christian Mesta which was withdrawn following an objection. He also pointed out that Crasto’s was the only application from the Catholic Mesta community.
