Panjim is watching and voicing

Shock and anger grows amidst doubts over
a fair investigation
Carrying a sword in the car just shows that there is a criminal intention from Zaine Almeida. I am confident the police will build a watertight case and also hopeful that the judiciary will set an example by giving the harshest punishment to this man. This will ensure that such an incident does not recur. Moreover, no night club or bar should be held responsible for such an incident because it is one of the things that can happen anywhere, anytime. What is required is that such dangerous characters, who are a threat to society, should be behind bars.
Kabir Makhija Pinto, Deputy Mayor CCP
This is a very serious issue. I hope the law-enforcing authorities bring the culprit to book and may justice prevail. I appeal to all concerned to join in the candle light procession for the cause.
Patricia Pinto, former CCP corporator
It has come to our notice that there is an ongoing attempt to distort facts that have occurred outside Down The Road (DTR) pub during which the two boys were attacked. It is our conviction that all facts should be properly and truthfully documented so that the prosecution can have a strong case against the accused.
Dr Bossuet Afonso, prominent city doctor and resident of Campal
It was a horrible attack…atrocious and unbelievable that a thing like this could happen in Panjim. Strong action has to be taken against the culprit and the government and judiciary should take proper steps so that the culprit is brought to book.
Dr Lily Sequeira, one of Goa’s respected doctors
A serious note has to be taken as the sword was brought in the car. There is threat to freedom of movement and the issue is to be taken very seriously and action be taken by the judiciary.
Barnabe Pinto, Campal resident
The police should take proper measures to ensure that the perpetrator is not out on the streets as he may hurt somebody else. He probably should undergo some treatment before he is let loose in society. A proper investigation too should be made to ensure that justice is served to be a detriment as otherwise everybody will be roaming around with knives in their pockets.
Kevin Rebello, Campal resident
We want justice. This is a very dastardly attack, especially as it happened just after Easter mass. Strong action should be taken, so that it acts as a deterrent.
Derek Rebello, Campal resident
It is a deplorable case as a citizen of Campal, Panjim, and the State has been attacked. My anger is much more than being Rafael’s (one of the two victims) friend. If we don’t react at this point of time we have to hang our heads in shame. The community has to act and keep aside personal differences to fight against the assault and freedom of the people of Goa. The time is now!
