Panjim police pledge adequate security

Panjim town police have assured that all necessary measures will be taken to provide security and have urged concerned members to cooperate with the police for the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The police team organized a meeting with temple committee members and those who will be holding ‘sarvajanik’ Ganapati utsav to maintain strict vigilance and follow security rules.
“The members are asked to install CCTV cameras at the festival venue, mandatory illumination in and around the festival venue and appoint volunteers who would patrol the venue,” said an officer.
TO avoid any traffic congestion, the police have suggested parking vehicles away from the venue, which will also help in terms of security. “We have also asked to keep a vigil over suspicious people and things around the place. We have asked them to keep only one entry point …” the officer further said.
More importantly, the festival organisors are requested not to raise any proactive slogans near other religious places that could probably incite communal tension. Besides, police force who will be deployed at all important locations, the festival organisors are given the option to seek more manpower from the police, if required.
“Every venue is required to have Door Frame Metal Detector and hand Frame Metal Detector to check every individual as a part of the security,” the officer further said assuring high police presence.
The police have also set rules and regulations during emersion ceremony, for a peaceful festival conclusion apart from other security measures.
