Panjim selected as part of international urban cooperation programme

It is one of twelve cities in the country which will work towards encouraging cooperation on sustainable development

Panjim: The Croatian City of Dubrovnik, has been paired with Panjim towards developing a Local Action Plan in a bid to address issues plaguing the capital city. 
The City Corporation has been chosen as a part of International Urban Cooperation program wherein 12 Indian cities (including Panjiim) will work towards encouraging cooperation on sustainable urban development. The program between European Cities and partner cities in Asia, North and South America will support the Indian cities.
“The IUC will address challenges such as pollution, management and performance of urban service delivery (water, sewage, drainage, mobility), areas in need of targeted support (waterfront, historical heritage areas) , green areas development etc,” the partnership agreement between Corporation of City of Panjim and the IUC stated. 
Marko Potrebica, the Chairman of Dubrovnik, Goran Cvjetkovik the senior advisor for media and public relations, Katarina Dorsner a member of the city council, Ivo Cvjetkovik  graduated traffic engineer and Alisa Vlasic, a senior advisor for local development and EU Funds within Dubrovnik visited the CCP in this regard. 
The Charles Correa Foundation, whose members were also present during the meeting on Tuesday briefed them on the on Panjim decongestion model while one of them complained on how traffic is a disaster in the city. “Major problems like congested roads, unfriendly pedestrian environment, inefficient public transport and haphazard parking are prevailing in the city,” Anjana, a team member said during a presentation.  
Assistant Director at CCP Sachin Ambe briefed the delegation about the Solid Waste Management system stating that if the waste is not segregated, it isn’t.
