Panther killed in mishap

COLLEM, MARCH 6 A panther was killed when an unidentified vehicle knocked down the animal at Souzamol-Collem on Thursday morning.

A panther was killed when an unidentified vehicle knocked down the animal at Souzamol-Collem on Thursday morning.
According to Mollem Range Forest Officer Shyamsundar Gawas, the incident occurred when the panther was crossing the road.
After locals informed the forest officials, RFO Gawas and forest guards Anand Surve, Vishwas Gaonkar, Chandrakant Gaonkar and Umesh Kerakr rushed to the site and shifted the seriously injured panther to Mollem forest office, where the panther died.
Medical reports revealed that the panther was about 21 inches and 68 cms in length. The panther died due to bone fracture and internal injuries.
Later, Deputy Conservator of Forests Debendra and Assistant Conservator of Forests Kamu Prakash visited Mollem and took stock of the situation.
