MARGAO: The parents of the four minor boys, who were kidnapped, displayed heroism by rescuing their children and getting the perpetrators arrested by the Fatorda Police.
The police have arrested 3 youth in this connection.
The incident occurred at Fatorda on Wednesday wherein 4 boys from a local Higher Secondary school were kidnapped by some youth.
The kidnappers held the four minors for ransom, robbed and assaulted them.
The kidnappers demanded Rs 75,000 and told the minors to inform their parents to pay the money and warned of dire consequences if they failed to do so.
The frantic students called the parents, to which they agreed. The parents later called the kidnappers at a petrol pump in Arlem.
When one of kidnappers – Delson Quadros from Raia tried to collect the ransom money, he was nabbed by the parents and the students were rescued but the three others fled.
The police on Thursday arrested the 3 youth but another accused is still at large.
Those arrested are Delson Quadros from Raia, Samir Shaikh from Davorlim and Jaglisab Maula from Majorda. One Saddam is absconding.
The police have recovered 4 two-wheelers which were used in committing the crime and have registered an offence. The accused have been remanded to custody.
The parents were blackmailed by the accused as they claimed that their children were taking drugs by showing the students’ photos.
