It will study and discuss the impact of mining on the environment and other related issues of environmental destruction.
The committee, headed by MP Ashwani Kumar, will visit various mining sites that are causing surface water pollution in the State.
On Saturday, the committee will hold discussions with officials of the Union Ministry for Environment and Forest (MoEF), Government of Goa, and representatives of NGOs, civil society organizations, experts and other stakeholders on the ‘Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill 2015’.
“It will also hold discussions on impact of mining on the environment in particular, and environmental issues of Goa in general,” an official communication states.
Various environmental destruction projects like the Tiracol Golf Course project, dredging of River Tiracol, mangroves destruction, sand mining are likely to be discussed at the meeting.
On Sunday, the Committee will visit National Centre for Antarctica and Ocean Research.
