Speaking to the media, Inspector General of Police Suni Garg said that security arrangements at all Carnival venues across the State have been intensified and proper arrangements made by local and traffic police for smooth and secure parades.
“In Vasco, Margao and Panjim the police have asked for extra security force to man the parade routes and we have also sent platoons as per their demand,” IGP Garg said.
Besides that, ATS and PCR vans will constantly patrol the routes and venues and the police force will be moving along with the floats this year, Garg said.
“We have asked the Carnival organizers to install CCTV cameras but while some are installing cameras, others are not. We will be video recording the procession,” Garg said.
Meanwhile, the interstate border security meeting was held on Friday with the neighboring district police. Garg said SP North Goa Umesh Gaonkar attended the meeting with Sindhudurg Police at Vengurla and South Goa SP Shekhar Prabhudesai attended the meeting in Belgavi.
