Parra woman dies after setting self ablaze

MAPUSA, JAN 31 A 38-year-old woman from Verla-Parra committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in her flat on Saturday morning. According to Mapusa police, Lina Andrade locked herself in her flat from the inside after her daughter had left for school at about 7.30 am.

According to Mapusa police, Lina Andrade locked herself in her flat from the inside after her daughter had left for school at about 7.30 am.
Andrade then allegedly cut off the LPG cylinder pipe and released the gas in the kitchen, before striking a match.
The entire flat was gutted in the fire.
Neighbours noticed smoke from the flat and alerted the fire services. Fire fighters broke open the door and extinguished the fire. They later recovered the charred body of Lina.
The motive behind the suicide is unclear and Mapusa police is investigating the case.
