The Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar today criticized the Transport department notification for replacing old 800 cc taxis with new ones of over 1000 cc.
“The taxi business and the two wheeler rent services were started to provide employment to the unemployed youth,” Parrikar said while opposing demands on Transport in the House today.
He further stated that the government notification will leave the common man out of business.
“The taxi drivers do not have the large sum of amount to buy the vehicles above 1000 cc which cost over Rs 5 to 6 lakh,” he stated.
“This notification will help the rich to invest in business leaving the poor Goan families dependent on the business out,” Parrikar said.
RP 2021: Parrikar stated that the government should immediately freeze development in the Eco Sensitive Zones until the Regional Plan 2021 is finalized.
“The government should freeze development in the Eco Sensitive Zones and so also the huge buildings in the villages,” he said.
Parrikar said that due to non implementation of the RS 20201 the situation in the urban areas is gone from bad to worse.
“Permissions to hotels and buildings without proper parking space and it is because the they are following old plan which was notified when the vehicles were very less,” he said adding “if the situation continues Cities will be out of control.”
Parrikar also charged that the Section 16 (A) of the TCP is being misused by the government authorities for converting lands.
NH17: Parrikar today stated that the work on the new Zuari Bridge should be started immediately.
“There is no need for completing full alignment for starting work on Zuari,” he stated.
Parrikar also ciriticised the government for bowing to the wishes of NHAI.
“We must tell them where the road should be and not NHAI,” he stated adding “if they do not agree let us widen the road on our own.”
