MARGAO/ DABOLIM: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik on Monday accused the RSS for politics of polarisation, adding that the 2014 Lok Sabha polls will not be a battle between the Congress and the BJP, but between the Congress and the RSS.
Reacting to the visit of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Goa on Monday, Naik said it remains to be seen what message Bhagwat gives to Goans and how the BJP workers would protect the interests of the minorities in the State. “Last time around when VHP leader Pravin Togadia visited the State, he slammed Christians and Muslims. The thinking of the Sangh Parivar is the same. The RSS today decides the BJP president and drafts the BJP manifesto,” he said.
Saying that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is fundamentally a RSS man, the Rajya Sabha MP said that Parrikar is looked as a key RSS man. “Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the RSS had sent Amit Shah to Uttar Pradesh. What has happened to Uttar Pradesh is now known to the entire country,” he added.
“The RSS is now fighting against the Congress. The countrymen should know the emerging situation. The RSS don’t want democracy, but want to foist a fascist regime. That’s why they have pushed in Narendra Modi,” he said.
“Appointment of the BJP president is decided by the RSS, as Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh were appointed by RSS and whenever there is conflict of interest it is RSS who decides and BJP acts accordingly,” Naik stated.
When it was pointed out that the minorities had voted for the BJP in the 2012 assembly polls, Naik said people of Goa are lamenting over their decision to bring the “narkasur” to power, expressing confidence that the minorities will return back to the Congress after their alienation because of some reasons in the past.
