PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is also the local MLA, Wednesday announced that the Panjim Development plan would be ready by August end and would be thrown open for suggestions by Thursday.
Deliberations and finalisation of plans for Margao and Vasco would then follow.
Parrikar was speaking after flagging off of four trucks of the Corporation of the City of Panaji Wednesday morning in the presence of the Mayor Surendra Furtado. These trucks would add to the fleet of garbage collecting trucks deployed by CCP in its 30 wards.
The chief minister’s announcement is significant after the Panjim Mayor Surendra Furtado met the chief minister with proposals for the development of Panjim and in the background of the recent overt and covert spat over CCP. Furtado had then told media that both the politicians have set aside their ego and united for Panjim.
The CCP and the chief minister have been having a proxy war with the mayor targeting the CCP commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues and government over a variety of issues, including the DPRs commissioned by the CCP around seven years back versus those floated by the consultant appointed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation some three months back.
At that time the Mayor had told media that the corporation had not authorized anybody to appoint any consultant.
