PORVORIM: Claiming that cleanliness in the State is a sign of development, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar appealed to people to keep their area clean so that they could contribute towards ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ (Clean India Campaign).
He was speaking at Porvorim after participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyam programme organized by Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation in association with Sanjay Centre at Pandit Dindayal Upadhaya Bhavan.
“There is no point cleaning the area once in a year. Cleanliness drives should continue for 365 days and it should be done as a part of one’s social obligation,” said Parsekar.
“The special children deserve compliments for participating in this Abhiyan and thereby creating awareness about the importance of cleanliness. The special children need encouragement from all sections of the society and efforts should be made to ensure that they stand on their own feet,” Parsekar added.
Later, the chief minister along with Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte and Dy Chairman of Planning Dattraprasd Kholker cleaned a small area, as part of their contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
