PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has ordered that packets of Nestle’s Maggi instant noodles be destroyed. Till late Monday, the brand has already recalled over 9600 kg of Maggi packs from 709 stores across the State.
“I have ordered to destroy the packets in the presence of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials,” he told reporters on Monday.
The government banned the sale of Maggi noodles from Monday even as the FDA last week declared the noodles safe for human consumption after tests. Samples have been sent for re-testing to a Mysore laboratory.
FDA has also decided to check other Nestle products and also collected samples of noodles bt other brands to verify their lead content. FDA inspectors were on their toes collecting samples for tests.
