Stating that though the party would continue to be behind their legislator Mickky Pacheco, who is facing arrest in the Nadia Torrado death case, Nationalist Congress Party on Monday said it wants the law to take its own course.
Mickky has been on the run after tendering his resignation early this month following his questioning by the Crime Branch. He was also charged for culpable homicide in the case.
The High Court has rejected his anticipatory bail.
Speaking to reporters here, NCP General Secretary and Incharge of Goa Desk, Prakash Binsale told reporters here that the party would continue to be behind him.
“As a loyal soldier he has tendered his resignation following the controversy and the party will continue to be behind him,” he stated.
Binsale said that though the party is strongly behind Mickky, the law must take its own course.
Mickky must surrender to the police and help in the investigations, the secretary stated.
Binsale’s comments come days after the Goa Unit spokesperson Avinash Bhonsle likened Mickky’s troubled time to that of Sita’s Agni pariksha.
NEW PRESIDENT: Binsale said that no decision has been reached on who would be the next State unit president of the party.
“We are still holding meetings,” Binsale stated.
