MAPUSA: Former tourism minister Dilip Parulekar on Thursday appeared before the JMFC Shantashri Kudchadkar, Mapusa, in the Serula Comunidade cheating and land grab case filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues.
Besides Parulekar, then attorney of Serula Comunidade Peter Martins and then Administrator of Comunidades (North Zone) Irene Sequeira appeared before the JMFC. They were asked to execute a bond of Rs 10,000 each and furnish a surety of the like amount for ensuring their regular appearance before the JMFC. Thereafter, the matter was adjourned to September 4. It is instructive that on June 22, Justice C V Bhadang of the Bombay High Court had directed the trio to face trial for offences under Sections 119, 120, 420 read with Section 120-B of the IPC.
In his complaint, Adv Rodrigues had drawn the Court’s attention that 599 sq mts of prime land on CHOGM Road at Porvorim was given away to Parulekar without any auction and without following the procedure contemplated under the Code of Comunidade and that the whole intention was to fraudulently facilitate the doling out of prime comunidade land to Dilip Parulekar.
