PANJIM: The Bombay High Court at Goa Tuesday issued a notice to Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar seeking his reply to a public interest litigation filed by a local activist alleging that Parulekar illegally grabbed 599 sq mtrs of Comunidade land at Porvorim.
According to the PIL, the plot located on the CHOGM Road had been encroached by Parulekar several years ago and that attempts are now being made to regularize the encroachment. He has demanded restoration of the encroached land.
The division bench comprising Justices N A Patil and F M Reis has also issued notices to the State government, administrator of North Zone Comunidade and attorney of Comunidade of Serula. The next hearing is scheduled for November 18.
The other notices are based on petitioner’s allegations that Under Secretary Irene Sequeira ~ also the Administrator of Comunidades of North Zone and Peter Martins the attorney of the Comunidade of Serula ~ Secretary at the Sangolda Panchayat have connived with Parulekar.
“The two officials conspired to fraudulently hand over to the Tourism Minister, on a platter, valuable Comunidade land at a throw away price in the guise of regularizing his encroachment to the extent of 599 sq meters of a prime land of Serula Comunidade along the CHOGM road at Porvorim bearing survey number 376/6 of Socorro village,” the petitioner has submitted to the court.
