PANJIM: The first cable-stayed footbridge linking Mala to Patto-Panjim is likely to be inaugurated by September 30, according to Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) managing director Harish Adconkar.

Adconkar said that the footbridge is 99-metre-long and three-metre wide while, 50 metres of bridge span is above water and 49 metres on land. The bridge has RCC piles and no piles are proposed in water and there is no obstruction to waterways. The bridge is on a single pylon with macalloy stainless steel stray rods.
Adconkar said that the footbridge will benefit the students studying at Mala as it will help them get easy access and also assist citizens visiting the Central Library, Goa State Museum, mangrove boardwalk and KTC Bus Terminus, Panjim. The EDC Patto will be connected with Panjim’s old city. Thus the bridge will solve the logistic problems.
