PONDA: Congress leader and former chief minister Ravi Naik has said that the common man was angry at the BJP for causing him suffering and for this reason the saffron party would lose all the seats it currently holds at the forthcoming assembly elections.
Ravi was addressing a padyatra by of Congress workers which reached the Sports Complex ground at Ponda on Sunday.
He further said that the demonetisation and other polices of the BJP government have caused sufferings to the people due to which they would vote for the Congress at the assembly elections.
He said that demonetisation would not help the common man, but only the mobile companies. People are losing their livelihood to demonetisation. No country in the world, he said, is completely cashless.
“We are not against weeding out black money, but there should be a planning and methodology to weed it out. The demonetisation is carelessly executed causing damage to the economy and the poor man,” he said.
Youth Congress leader Varad Mardolkar said that the padyatra commenced from Pernem and would reach Canacona after gap of 12 days covering a distance of 266 kilometres. He said that the padyatra is being held to understand the feelings of the people.
