People with vested interest opposing IIT, says Tawadkar

MARGAO: Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar has said that the opposition to IIT in Loliem insufficient information communicated to the people.
He also said that people in general are not opposed to the project, but few vested interests are opposing the same.
Briefing the press at Margao, Tawadkar said, “This is a central project and it is not completely true that it is being opposed by people of Loliem. There is confusion, because a small number of people with vested interests leading the entire agitation.
Tawadkar said the villages have not been given information on the proposed IIT. “The information dissemination exercise on the project has not happened as it was required to be. Hence, the IIT is facing opposition in Loliem,” Tawadkar said.
“We will hold a meeting and try to get the doubts of the people cleared soon. The issue has been rocking Gram sabhas not recently but for months now,” Tawadkar said. 
The gram sabha which was called on last Sunday had to be adjourned as too many people turned up to attend it. With elections nearing, several attempts are being made to politicise IIT issue.
