Why Digambar chose a Thursday?
Former Chief Minister and Congress nominee Digambar Kamat filed his nomination papers on Thursday setting a lot of tongues wagging. In the past, long serving MLA Digambar has always chosen to file his nomination papers on a Monday which is the day dedicated to Dam Bab the God reigning over Margao. However, this time around he chose a Thursday to file his papers making people wonder why there was this break from tradition even though Thursday is also a revered day for Hindus in Goa.
Nilesh–Ravindra Cabral bhai-bhai & now bye–bye?
An interesting aspect to notice in politics is how Curchorem’s BJP MLA Nilesh Cabral may have made Curchorem a home, very near to his sasural but back home in Verna, his brother Ravindra Cabral is not a BJP man. Five years Nilesh has been with the BJP as MLA but for eight years Ravindra has been with Lyndon Monteiro and for the last five years he’s been a member of the Goa Vikas Party. Ravindra tells us how he and Nilesh are Indians at heart and hence have Indian names but their ideology in politics is definitely poles apart and will stay this way.
Flagging violation
Following a complaint from local resident, the flying squad team from Mormugao constituency,  attached dozens of BJP flags violating model code of conduct on Thursday. According to information, a complaint in this regard was lodged after which flying squad officials rushed to the site and found that,  a total of 51 BJP flags were kept flying, despite of model code of conduct for 2017 in place. These flags were put up along the roadside near the Prince Bakery at Headland-Sada. Flying Squad later removed the flags and handed over the same to Mormugao police. A case under section 188 of IPC has been booked against some unknown persons.
