PANJIM: Directorate of Education (DoE) on Wednesday rejected 54 of the 63 applications received to start new schools in the State. However, permissions for setting up two Marathi medium primary schools were given, while a few more are set to get permissions.
“The department started the process of clearing the application from today. Two Marathi medium primary schools were approved today, one at Old Goa and the other one at Curtorim, Salcete. A few more schools are likely to get clearances from tomorrow, while a report about four schools is awaited,” sources from the department said.
DoE further said that applications for English primary schools were rejected as it against the policy of the government that promotes the regional language.
