PANJIM: The Union Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javdekar said that with regards to Mopa or development in any state the government was always positive. He said the government needed to ensure sustainable development and therefore when the proposal comes to the ministry, permission would be definitely granted.
The minister said that in the earlier government the MoEF was an impediment to economic development but in the Narendra Modi government there was an ease in doing business and more importantly responsible business.
He said the country had changed under Modi and was moving ahead. He went on to say that the country had now started exporting arms and intended to double exports from Rs 630 million to Rs 1230 million. India had several friends who needed arms and if the country did not provide it in time of need then how could India be a friend.
The minister is in Goa for the Global Business Forum 2015 organised by alumni of IIT Mumbai. He felt the initiative was very good because it would get people based out of the country to come here and possibly do business.
Present was Defence Minister and former chief minister Manohar Parrikar who said the initiative by IIT Mumbai was very good and it had used its contacts to get some influential people.
With reference to defence he said it was very important to indigenize since it was not wise to depend on someone else for these products because in case of war it would be dangerous. He added that selling arms to friends strengthened friendships because they could be having small issues. In these matter he said clear guidelines were followed.
