Piggery: Quepem resident issued notice

CURCHOREM: Health Officer of Quepem PHChas issued a notice to Marta Travasso from Condy-Quepem under Section 40(i) of the Goa Public Health Act 1985, Rule 1987 for causing health hazard/nuisance due to piggery.
The officer directed her to abate the nuisance within 7 days and send a compliance report in writing failing which action deemed fit as per Sec 40(5)(ii) of Goa Public Health Act 1985 will be initiated including disconnection of water and power connections.
It may be recalled that Quepem Citizens Committee (QCC) members had complained to the Health Officer of Quepem Primary Health Centre (QPHC) against a woman from Condi-Quepem for creating nuisance by keeping open piggery in the backyard of her residence.
The complaint which is also addressed to the Quepem Deputy Collector and ward councillor stated that the piggery is an open invitation for the diseases such as dengue, swine flu, malaria and others which can spread during the rainy season.
