PORVORIM: Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar on Tuesday informed that the Panchayat has decided to commence a plastic collection drive in PDA and Nova Cidade colony.
“The panchayat will begin this drive on a door-to-door basis and this initiative will commence within the next few days,” said Bandodkar.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the work to construct road dividers and gutters in Nova Cidade enclave.
The project to construct road dividers from Xavier Glass shop to Nikita Enclave is estimated at Rs 4.36 lakh, while the work to construct three drains is estimated at Rs 3.22 lakh.
“In the absence of a road divider along the main road, there was a tendency for motorists to cross the road from any side, thereby posing a threat to other motorists and pedestrians. The gutters are being constructed to prevent rainwater from flowing on the road during monsoons,” said Bandodkar.
Informing that the panchayat has also decided to provide better street lights in the area, Bandodkar also informed that the panchayat is acting on a demand to develop a ground in Nova Cidade enclave for the benefit of residents.
Later, the sarpanch handed over cheques from the Provedoria to two residents in the colony.
