PANJIM: The Director of Information & Publicity today lodged a complaint with the Panjim police against the former director for allegedly siphoning off Rs one lakh, almost a decade ago.
Sources in the police said that Director Swapnil Naik has alleged that Rajesh Singh, who was holding the post of Director in 2003 was given Rs 4.50 lakh for a film festival.
The former director had failed to explain the expenditure of Rs one lakh to the government of the total granted to the department.
It may be recalled that Singh’s appointment was challenged by an activist, claiming that he does not qualify for such an appointment, nor is he qualified to exercise the administrative or financial powers of the post.
The Panjim police are inquiring into the complaint with the FIR yet to be registered.
