CURCHOREM: Plastic bags below 40 microns, which are banned by law, are once again seen appearing slowly in the market at Curchorem.
All the traders in Curchorem had stopped using plastic bags of below 40 microns and were giving paper bags to the consumers or admissible plastic bags following the anti-plastic drive undertaken by Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC).
However, it is seen that some traders stopped using paper bags and started giving plastic bags which are banned by law.
It may be recalled that CCMC in association with Quepem Mamlatdar had undertaken the anti-plastic drive in April last year and had advised the traders not to use banned plastic bags. CCMC had also circulated about 500 bags during the drive to the shopkeepers which are permitted as per law and asked them to follow the rule strictly.
