PANJIM: The North District & Sessions Court has directed that a warrant of arrest be issued against Attorney of Serula Communidade Agnelo Lobo in a cheating and land grab case allegedly involving former minister for Tourism Dilip Parulekar.
When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, Principal Sessions Judge B P Deshpande observed that Lobo failed to remain present in Court despite being summoned.
After rejecting the plea of the Crime Branch to close the case against Parulekar last December, the Court had stated it was not satisfied with the investigation under Section 190 (1) (a) of the Criminal Procedure Code and as such took cognizance of the complaint filed by Advocate Aires Rodrigues.
The petitioner had submitted that the CB in an attempt to shield Parulekar had derailed and vitiated the investigation by falsely and malafiedly portraying to the Court that the latter was a poor victim who was misled by the Communidade officials to grab the land.
He also drew the Court’s attention that CB had repeatedly submitted that investigation was almost complete and only sanction from the government was awaited to prosecute the accused.
The Court on March 17, 2016 while rejecting the CB plea for further time to probe the case had directed that the investigation be completed forthwith.
Rodrigues had pointed out to Judge Deshpande that CB was intentionally dragging its feet in the investigation to shield the then minister. The Court on October 7, 2014 had directed the CB to complete the investigation within a month.
