PMC asks 44 banks to pay dues or face action

PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has issued notices to 44 banks for non-payment of dues amounting to Rs 2.66 lakh towards trade licence fees, sign boards and house tax.
The municipality has warned the banks of sealing their premises, if they fail to clear the arrears.
PMC Chairperson Pradeep Naik said that the banks have not paid their dues since 8-9 years.
He said that PMC had issued several reminders and even show cause notices to them. He said there are 44 such banks in Ponda which have not cleared their dues. 
He appealed to the banks to clear their dues or else PMC may seal their offices for recovering arrears.
