PMC begins survey of street vendors to implement Act

PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has decided to implement Street Vending Act of Central Government 2014 for which it has began conducting survey and registration  of all the existing street vendors within the municipal wards and traditional weekly bazaar. 
The PMC started the process of surveying from December 21 and will continue till December 31.
Chief Officer Kedar Naik in a press release issued on Monday directed that all the street vendors vending himself/ herself or through their family members within PMC area and who have no mean of livelihood are notified that they must apply for certificate of vending, as per Clause 4 of the Act in the printed Form B available in the office of the Town Vending Committee, PMC on or before December 31, 2019.
Chairperson Venkatesh Naik said, “PMC is going to implement the Street Vending Act of Central Government. He said after registration of the street vendors, 11 members would be elected to form a Street Vending Committee. 
Chief Officer of PMC would be the chairman of Street Vending Committee which would be also comprised of deputy collector, TCP officials, vendors association members etc. Currently, for the implementation of Street Vending Act, Ad-hock Committee is formed. Based on survey of street vendors, their identification and Aadhaar Card verification registration would be done accordingly for the implementation of Street Vending Act.
