PANJIM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Goa on March 7 has been postponed due to his current busy schedule. The new date has not been announced.
Modi was due to visit Goa this week to address party workers ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, which are due next month. However, the visit is now expected after the schedule for the parliamentary polls is announced.
A senior BJP functionary said the PM’s visit on March 7 had also not been confirmed, though the Prime Minister’s Office had communicated about it. “With a busy scheduled lined up, PM’s visit to Goa has been postponed. The PM will most likely address a public meeting in North Goa once the election code is announced,” the BJP member said.
Along with the Lok Sabha polls, the State will also go for by-elections in Mandrem, Shiroda and Mapusa, simultaneously. It is learnt that the election code may come into force from March 9.
