MAPUSA: Mapusa Police arrested the alleged quack Hanumantray Biradar who was on the run after his application for anticipatory bail was rejected by High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Investigating Officer Kiran Naik said that the alleged quack was arrested in Mapusa.
“He is in police custody and will undergo a three day police remand. The case is being further investigated by me under the supervision of Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar,” Naik said.
Dr Biradar had been allegedly practising illegally as an allopathic doctor in Mapusa for several years without a registration certificate from competent authority, Mapusa Police had booked the alleged accused and begun investigations in the case.
Earlier in June, the Additional District and Sessions Court in Mapusa had also rejected his anticipatory bail application.
After the Mapusa Police booked him for fabricating the Medical Council of India (MCI) registration certificate on March 12, Biradar, fearing arrest moved for anticipatory bail.
A case was registered against Biradar under section 465, 467,468 and 420 of the IPC and Section 27 under the Goa Medical Council Act 2005.
Former president of Goa Medical Council, Dr Shekar Salkar had also lodged a complaint against Biradar at Mapusa police station in January this year.
