PANJIM: Panjim police have begun scrutinising videos of the violent clash between the BJP and Congress workers that occurred on Friday evening. A senior police officer said the investigation teams will also write to news channels to furnish video footage of the incident.
“We have recorded the clash, which is being scrutinised as part of the probe. However, we will also ask the news channels to furnish us the video footage,” the officer said adding that summons to all concerned will follow thereafter.
BJP and Congress workers on Friday got into major scuffle which turned violent. The situation was tense for nearly two hours on DB Road.
Panjim police have registered a case under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (provoke breach of peace), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 354 (assault or criminal force on any woman, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will be there by outraging her modesty), 336 (endangering lives or personal safety of other), read with 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of Indian Penal Code against the BJP workers.
While an offence under sections 143, 147, 323, 504, 509, 354 read with 149 of the IPC has been registered against the Cong workers.
