poll violation: Yet another complaint against govt staffer

PANJIM, MARCH 3 The Goa State Election Commission has received another complaint about a government employee campaigning with a candidate for CCP polls.

The Goa State Election Commission has received another complaint about a government employee campaigning with a candidate for CCP polls.
The complaint has been filed by Menino D’Cruz, outgoing corporator on behalf of his wife Deodita Da Vianna Da Cruz who is contesting from ward 19.
The complaint is against one   army employee Rupesh Rama Naik, who works as a cook for Military Engineering Services (MES) at Altinho.
Speaking to Herald D’Cruz said he has filed a complaint against one Rupesh Rama Naik, who works a cook for Military Engineering Services (MES) at Altinho .
“He was actively canvassing on behalf of his wife, Maria Rita Fernandes. We have found him distributing money door to door, ” alleged D’Cruz.
He said, he has lodged a complaint to SEC, Panjim town police station, returning officer as well as MES headquarters.
Meanwhile, the SEC has referred the complaint to Returning Officer (RO), State Election Commissioner Dr M Modassir told Herald on Thursday.
acting on the earlier complaint, Modassir said that the SEC had directed the Customs department to initiate action against their employee Michael Fernandes, who has transferred their employee to Margao.
Adv Aires Rodrigues who is contesting from ward 30 had filed a complaint against Fernandes saying despite being a government employee, he was canvassing for his wife Vivina Nasnodkar who is contesting from the same ward.
The SEC had directed Customs to transfer Fernandes to Margao.  However, for want of jurisdiction the Customs has not been able to transfer outside the State.
Taking strong cognizance of report published in Herald on February 27,  about TVs,  fridges,  washing machines  and bicycles  have been distributed to voters in various wards of the CCP to  bribe voters ahead of CCP polls,  the State Council  of  CPI   has  also lodged a detailed  complaint  with SEC.
Chirstopher Fonseca, Secretary of the State  Unit  has  requested  the  office of SEC  to take  immediate   cognizance  of the news  item and  enquire into the matter by lodging  an appropriate  police complaint against all those persons and candidates who are responsible for bribing the voters. 
It has also demanded disqualification of all those candidates  against  whom  prima  facie  case is  being established  in the present matter.
