BJP says it can turn garbage into gold
PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday condemned Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Luizinho Faleiro for calling Mauvin Godinho as garbage. On his part, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar retorted that the BJP can turn garbage into gold.
Addressing the media, BJP, President, Vinay Tendulkar said, “BJP totally condemns Luizinho for terming Mauvin Godinho as garbage. For the past four and half years Mauvin was with the Congress but he always supported the BJP openly and was talking against his own principal party.” “Godinho always spoke against his own party, but Luizinho never had the guts to throw him out of the party in the last four and half years, as he was scared of Mauvin that he might expose his scams,” said Tendulkar
Asserting that Luizinho’s dream of becoming chief minister would never become a reality, the BJP asked him “How much more garbage is present within the Congress?”
“The Congress president, who cannot handle his MLAs and other people within the party, how will he handle Goa? His dream of becoming CM will stay as a dream and before the elections are announced we will see more and more Congress leader leaving the party,” Tendulkar said The BJP has also made it clear that the first list of candidates will be declared in January 2017 after a series of meetings that are scheduled for December end in which the candidate names will be finalized.
AAP will make Goa corruption-free: Gomes
PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief ministerial candidate Elvis Gomes on Wednesday said that AAP would make Goa a corruption-free State and that the people of Goa are ready for a change in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing the media, AAP, Gomes said that AAP has a clear vision and only it can give a stable and a corruption-free government to the State of Goa.
“Today Goans have left with no respect and dignity and AAP will play a major role in restoring the dignity of every citizen in Goa. For the last 25 years, the government function has not been proper,” Gomes said.
Promising that AAP would make Goa corruption-free, Gomes said that all government recruitments will be done only on merit and integrity. Only those who are recruited on merit and integrity can bring back respect and dignity to the government work force.
“We had started Goa Dialogues in which people have said job opportunities had not been created as promised and providing employment is AAP’s main agenda wherein the companies which was to start their industries will be first monitored on how many jobs will be given to the locals and what kind of jobs, if the jobs are not suitable then AAP will not allow the industry to come but if the jobs are suitable but Goa doesn’t have the man power then in that case the company will have to provide training to Goan youths and later the industry will be allowed to come” he said
Elvis choice irks Vasco veteran Henriques, quits
VASCO: Two days after Elvis Gomes was announced as chief ministerial candidate by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, a prominent party leader from Vasco resigned from the party showing his displeasure over the selection of the CM candidate. Veteran politician from Vasco, Gandhi Henriques who had joined AAP and was aspiring to be the party’s candidate from Vasco assembly seat has now decided to contest assembly polls as an Independent. Venting out his anger against AAP and particularly on the party’s Goa observer Pankaj Gupta, Henriques claimed that AAP has been actually helping other political parties in the State by fielding weak candidates. “I was feeling suffocated in the party since the time Pankaj Gupta started playing dirty politics. AAP only wants dummies to dance according to their tune. I, therefore, decided to move out and have tendered my resignation from the party on December 19. I will now contest as an Independent.”
candidate from Vasco,” he said.
He further said “I got first upset when they deprived me and imposed candidate in Vasco against the feelings of volunteers and the members. The members even asked the party to hold a meeting and explain as to why they deprived me by denying a ticket but AAP failed to call such a meeting and imposed their decision,” he said and further added, “Now they (AAP) declared Elvis Gomes as CM candidate denying the crucial position to Karl Vaz, (AAP candidate from Mormugao) who has vast experience and is a very honest person. Also Vaz has a good track record would have been most suitable CM candidate. Likewise they did with me, AAP now imposed CM candidate against the wishes of the majority in the party. They have not even won elections and don’t know how many seats they will win and have even not finalized 9 candidates but have finalized CM candidate which is something unusual in politics”.
Commenting further, he said, “At the office Inauguration of AAP candidate from Panjim Valmiki Naik, I donated 1000 square metres land for the Vanmare tribal people at Nirankal Ponda with the belief that AAP would do something for these tribal people, however, they did not do anything with the land which shows how much they care and are interested to help the poor.
