PONDA: Ponda MLA Ravi Naik on Thursday chaired a meeting of GSUDA officials. They zeroed in on over 123 shops located in the Ponda Market Project Building which are either lying unused or are in a ramshackle condition. The project was inaugurated five years ago.
He directed the officials and PMC chief officer to complete the work and go ahead with the auction so that PMC doesn’t lose out on revenue. The meeting also decided to use the parking facility.
Though the market project was inaugurated five years ago, due to some dispute among vendors and PMC, some work remained pending and further some vendors were also reluctant to operate citing various issues.
Now, Naik has taken a fresh initiative to put to the project building to good use. Naik said shops must be readied and operational and hundreds of vehicles can be parked at basement and open space of the project building.
Also taking note of the monsoon, he directed to stop road digging work by PWD and Sewerage Department to avoid inconvenience to locals.
