Ponda municipality extends garbage collection contract

The meeting also decided to send a proposal to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the installation of CCTV cameras in the city.

PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has decided to extend the contract for collecting garbage from the city area. The same will be forwarded to the municipal administration for approval. The present contract will expire on September 30.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of PMC chairperson Ritesh Naik. Chief Officer Yogiraj Gosavi and municipality inspector Uday Dessai were also present during the meet. 

Councillors Vyenkatesh Naik, Pradeep Naik and others raised the issue of garbage collection.  Sources said that there was no discussion on the rate hike during the meeting. 

Chairperson Ritesh Naik while speaking to the media after the meeting confirmed that the council has agreed to extend the contract for garbage collection in the municipal area. The meeting also decided to send a proposal to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the installation of CCTV cameras in the city.

In order to decongest the traffic near Almeida High School, a pathway would be created for students to move towards the Indira market. Parents coming with vehicles to pick up their children would be asked to wait near Indira market, informed the Chairperson. The new arrangement would be implemented after the Ganesh Festival.
